Why?!

Why must you build me up?

“Go, get it, it’s yours!”

You’re only going to break me down,

I’ll reach for the stars,

but get burned by the sun.

Why do you push me?

“You’re almost there!”

I try to take the pressure,

I’ll look for the future,

not able to forget the past.

Why do you care?

“I’m trying to help.”

You say with a crooked smile.

Trying to play my part,

But I don’t know my role.

Why are you still here?

“You can do it.”

Trick with false hope.

I’ll find the last puzzle piece,

only to see that the puzzle has changed.

Why must I ask why?

“You must play the game.”

I played the game.

I didn’t play it good enough,

I’m a wasted soul.

I write everything in the moment. A lot of my work reflects on my views of life. I try to write things that others can relate to and I look forward to reading other poems.
