Why?
It’s a splinter in your mind
You’re a sinner confined
To thinking you’re a winner designed
By a figure divine
You wanted a guide
And to go to heaven when you die
So you never whine
And you give up your time
And listen to the church bells chime
And you wait in line
To drink the wine
And when the can arrives
You toss in a dime
To worship the shrine
Above the poverty line
Is that a sign
That you have redefined
What it means to live a lie?
Has it ever crossed your mind
That maybe you’re the bad guy?
That you’re the devil inside
And that it’s all been a lie
And there ain’t a guy in the sky
That’s always nearby
There to supply
You with your bowtie
And rules to abide by?
If you got a reply
Let it fly
I just want to remind
That disagreeing is fine
But ignoring is a crime
So free your mind
Open your third eye
You’re no longer in junior high
What do you stand by?
And for what are you willing to die?
I don’t mean to pry
I just want to apply
A question to live by
Why?
