Why?

I never thought my life could be this way.   It's in utter despair and no one seems to care.   And I ask myself that question.   Why?   I had the perfect image of what my life would be like.   Thinking it would be smooth like silk.   But instead it's sour like milk.   Why?   I don't know how much more I can take.   I feel like throwing in the towel.   I'm just tired of everybody's scowl.   All I have in my heart is hate.   Can I wipe it clean off the slate?   My heart and soul is empty.   Can it be filled?   This all goes back to that one question.   That one question I can't seem to find the answer to   That question that will haunt me for the rest of my life   That question is.....   Why?   Will I ever find the answer to this question?   Will I ever know?   I ask it more times than a five year old.   It leaves me out to wander in the cold.   If only that question knew how many times it....   Made me want to cry.   Made me want to give up.   Made me think that I didn't matter.   Can I make it past all this?   Will I be able to overcome?   You see I should stand up for myself.   And take my hopes and dreams off the shelf.   Hope shines and dreams sparkle.   But for some reason, hope is dim and dreams are dark.   Why?   Why is this happening to me?   Why do I have to go through all this?   Every time I cry, I cry drops of rain.   But wait,  I see something.   I see the shining hopes and the sparkling dreams.   I hear love and kindness whisper words of comfort.   Now looking back, I ask myself....   Why?
