Why

You ask me what's wrong

I always lie

I'm not okay

But I say I'm fine

Questions are pounding

In my mind

I need answers

To questions like

I'm still here

But why?

I helped my friend

I saved a life

I ran the race

I fought the fight

I did my duty

Why am I still alive?

I did something good

Why am I dead inside?

My quest for answers

Leads me to write

The pain out on paper

Paper that's not white

I made you a promise

Please know I try

But sometimes I wonder

Why I don't try

To bite the bullet

And take my own life

But then I think

If you would try

To do the same thing

And then I know why

If my body was

Into 100, divide

99 things would

Say take your own life

But you are the one

That says stay by my side

I'll be here, I hope

Just help me tonight
