Why? Because I loved you.
Why did I give my heart away?
You used it like a fiddle, you're instrument to play.
I was Icarus, and you were my sun,
We were kids and we had our fun.
But I got too close and burned to a crisp.
You clipped my wings, while I tried to fly.
Each answer to every question I asked you, started with a sigh.
Why did I give my heart away?
It was a broken record, scratched and repeating, "I love you", everyday.
And I know a scratched record is hard to fix,
But you could have fixed my broken heart with a kiss.
Even though you were a writer, you didn't know what to say.
All I ever needed was a simple three word phrase.
"I love you, every single day".
