why can't we save ourselves?

why can't we save ourselves?

the joyous cause of fear
this pain is just to sweet
its holding onto something
something rooted deep

the hated thread tugs
i walk in silent tears
i know what soon will come
along with horrid fears

i'll look at my reflection
knowing to a day
that i will falter somehow
and i stop since i can't stay

why can't we save ourselves?

the shadows in a heart
it darkens when near light
its enough to make me want to cut it out
like red roses at its sight

the sea of veins before you
it brings in such a day
when darkness is all we see
when its all we can say

but when can we function
the mask can't stay on
long and endured
the mask will soon be gone
