Why Care
Sometimes I look at life and wonder
Why care?
Nature speaks its opulence as fox dispatches hare
Inevitably in the burrow, defenseless litter lay in slumber
For we are the prey, the predator expedient in number
So ask yourself, don't speak, but think, why do we even dare?
Ultimately too late we find Her trap laid down to snare
Life's many burdens, laid onto us, invoke chaos, nothing still
Diverted perspective, past length of the window, beyond the seal brown sill
Self-worth and joy go hand in hand, you must commandeer the pair
What happened to scrupulous romance? It is together we climb the stair
Salvation of nations is within the boy, melodious young drummer
I do surmise, at wintertime we effervesce the summer
Is it not what we do? We dream, is not part of life to dream?
Outshine your monitor, mere fatuity surfs cyberspace's stream
Be patient, your dream will fall into place, perhaps as in Midsummer
Never by tongue or thought deride your hardly fissioned wonder
Search within you, to know yourself is all that's really fair
Cease all worry arisen from time; realize its bitter destiny is to wear
For then, and only then, you'll strain to find a reason not to care
