Why Change?
His smile glowed in the moonlight.
A silhouette of kindness
enhanced by the buzz of the night.
He was everything I wasn't,
the can gleaming in his hand.
Perhaps that's what caught my sight.
Or the way his eyes danced through the dark
twinkling like stars,
making my heart take flight.
I want you and nothing but you he plead,
as I held back the tears with all my might.
His beer stained lips spoke he had danced with another at the bar.
My eyes shut tight.
Please, I want to be in your life.
What do I say?
You clipped the string to my heart,
once soaring to the heights of a kite.
Do I stay or go?
You've changed me in ways I didn't know.
The girl at the party would have left you instantly.
It seems this is the new me.
I must go, I've loved him more than he has ever shown.
Why change for one not worth my time?
I suppose it's true,
love is blind.
