Why Do I Write? A Pencil, Some Paper, and A Cup of Bitter Coffee

Why Do I Write? A Pencil, Some Paper, and A Cup of Bitter Coffee

I Believe That Writing Has Saved Me…

Writing is the cardio of my ideas,

the rich and the poor ones.

Writing is the way my mind exercises,

that makes my thoughts more powerful.

Writing is a way to express myself without talking,

just the sound of nothing.

I am a shy guy that feels scared to

communicate a message in front of strangers.

However, writing is easy because it is just

writing whatever on a piece of paper, right?

Feeling a tight pencil made of wood

making contact on a notebook that will

get lost in the disaster of my room, as

small as a closet, after I finish writing.

The angry feeling when the delicate point

of my pencil breaks and I need to get up,

from my high backed chair, to go sharpen it again.

That’s why I rather write on a computer.

A boring screen that shows what I am writing,

and that after 3 hours it will run out of battery

and my piece of writing will get lost in the middle

of nothing until I plug in a cable to electricity to

alive my thoughts from the digital world.

Well, I just realized

that I don’t like to write on something
that shows something that may not exist.

I feel that I am more from the old school.

Writing on an old notebook while drinking a coffee that

tastes bitter because I don’t know how to prepare a coffee.

To lock the door of my room and spend a whole life

in front of my desk writing a 100-page fairy tale

that I will never share because I feel that I am not a good writer.

My mind is a mess, like a pipe that has

been clogged for an eternity,

but writing has helped me to clean it.

Writing is my best friend who understands

me even though my handwriting is bad.

That’s why I feel that writing has saved me,

When I didn’t want to keep that secret with myself.

When there wasn’t anyone to talk with,

so I wrote my thoughts on the wall of my room.

From those nights when everything

I had was a pencil and a rough paper next to me.

Writing has always been with me when I can’t sleep,

but it has never stopped my desire

                  to keep dreaming.
