Why Do Kisses Burn?
Why do kisses burn?
Yet soothe my burning lips,
As I feel your fingers
As they dance across my hips?
Oh, your crooked smile
That on me shines its gaze.
All that shines around me,
In the heat of summer days.
Tar melts on my shoes,
Fireworks in the sky,
Vanilla sweet laughter,
And a satisfying sigh.
Water running over my skin,
And water in my hair,
The perfect place of bliss.
You take me there
Days pass
And hours too
There isn’t a single moment
That I don’t think of you
In these times,
Cradled in your arms
In between those kisses
I know will cause me harm,
I have a perfect measure
Of happiness you give
I have these moments
Where you let me live
I see you twisted in the sheets
My green eyes see it so
I smile as I leave today
But I don’t want to go
There is a lost part,
A love has gone away.
You tell me to leave,
But I beg you let me stay.
I drive away so sad
I drive away with tears
Things I think I know
Cloud my mind with fears
And when you leave; I know you will.
I will not think of this.
I will think of your crooked smile
And your burning kiss.
