Why do they hate us?
Born an American but raised a pakistani
to me, our traditions are normal but to everyone else, they're just uncanny.
"Fasting for 30 days? "
"Don't you guys get hungry?"
These are the questions I'm asked.
"Of course I do" I respond.
That's what it means to fast.
"Why does your religion say to kill people?"
Is another popularly asked question.
"Religion doesn't have anything to do with it, People kill people" I answer.
These men think they are doing justice,
The quran does not hand terrorists guns.
all they're doing is making the world a more violent place for their future sons.
Fighting fire with fire only creates a larger fire
however the tension created by the United States
is understandable as they are the occupier.
Americans ask "Why do they hate us so much?"
Is it not obvious?
A decade long occupancy can drain a country's resources and population.
When a drone strikes and kills a boy's father,
Is it no common sense that he will grow up hating the United States?
Peace must be achieved
It will not be easy but an attempt must be made
In order to avoid another bloody decade.
