why do you beat me down

I try not to believe your words

I try to find my worth, my dignity,

but you flick of the lights, and pull the rug out from under me

and as I trip and stumble through the darkness, searching,

for anything to make me feel whole again,

violent laughter bubbles from inside you,

humored by the chaos you've created.
