"Why do you love me?"

I question who I am.

It's inevitable; It's true.

I want to know why I'm important.

Why I am loved, too.

So, I decided to ask around,

And I will share what I have found...

Before, I worried, as a girlfriend:

"How am I good enough for him?"

So I casually ask Ethan: "Why do you love me?"

"I love you because you are supportive.

When everything was falling down,

You were there for me.

Because I love you,

I too, will give you my shoulder

To lean on."

Before, I worried, as a friend:

"How do I have friends?"

So I casually ask Jenifer: "Why do you love me?"

"I love you because you are positive.

When the day seemed dull,

You lifted the mood.

Because I love you,

I too, will brighten your day

when you are down."

Before, I worried, as a daughter:

"How do my parents see me?"

So I casually ask Mom: "Why do you love me?"

"I love you because you contribute.

When your family is in need,

You help.

Because I love you,

I too, will help you

In whatever way I can."

I have discovered:

I am loved

As a girlfiend, friend, and daughter.

Now that I know,

I'm actually, very much, honored.

I worried I wasn't important.

I worried I wasn't loved.

But now, I have a reason

To carry on.
