Why does this keep happening?

Why does this keep happening?

The sounds of bullets in the air

Why does this keep happening?

All our hearts filled with despair

Why does this keep happening?

Congress keeps hiding from taking the blame

Why does this keep happening?

Our nation is filled with shame

We are constantly seeing schools being attacked with senseless violence

While Congress is sitting back in the Senate filled with silence

Why must innocent children keep dying by the acts of hatred?

When we need to figure out ways to keep our schools safe and sacred?

Students are asking, “God, Why do you allow such violence in our aggregation?”

When in reality Congress says that, “God doesn’t belong within our education.”

I can’t begin to imagine what these innocent children have seen

From the gun shots to their classmates being ripped at the seams

From the running across the halls to the agonizing screams

These types of situations are not meant to be seen by children or teens

I continue to pray each and every day

That God will help these children and ease their pain

Why does this keep happening?

The sounds of ambulances in the air

Why does this keep happening?

All our hearts filled with despair

Why does this keep happening?

Congress keeps trying to have these incidents blocked

Why does this keep happening?

Our nation is still filled with shock

The time for our government to take a stand keeps slipping away, tick tock

We won’t be able to move forward until we keep fighting for a better tomorrow, chop chop

America is supposed to be the land of the free and home of the brave

Not the land of the flea and home of the children who are gunned down to this day

We must strive for a better future for our children’s sake

We must make Congress step up to the plate to ease our ache

As of right now we need to come together as one nation

And pray for all of the innocent lives that have been taken

We will always remember and never forget

All the people who have suffered from these terrible threats
