Why does poetry interest me?

Why does poetry interest me?

Because it's found in songs I sing,

Or throughout the books that I read?

Poetry is different, you see

Than other forms of art, indeed

Because has to do with words,

Powerful beyond all mesaure

It began with laughter for me

As we read Shel Silverstein

Later it became a method

To communicate thoughts in my head

Passion combined with desire

As I released this fire

Through spoken ideas and words

Even penning songs at work

Though not alone physically

This process happens privately

Only two are truly aware

Just a man and his Creator
