Why Don't You
Why?
Why don't you help?
That poor, fragile girl get up from her feet
After those girls pushed her off
Calling her ugly and puny
They're laughter echoing in her mind
A salty tear falling down her cheek, as she whispers to herself,
"When will this be over?"
Why don't you help that man in the wheelchair
Who can't carry his groceries into his house
Because he is paralyzed
After he came back from war
As he thinks in his mind,
"How will I go on with my life?"
Why?
Why don't you?
Is it fear?
Fear that swallows you whole
Like a ferocious wave eating away at a fishing boat
Is it pride?
Like a lion roaring a thunderous roar
That shakes all the others
Showing superiority and power
Is it silence?
A deadly silence that prevents you to move
Like quicksand holding your body silently
You see these people
Pleading for help through their expressions
Suffering every moment
And wanting the end to be near
But you
YOU
Can stop it
Why don't you gather courage
And break free of your fear
Break free of your selfish pride
Break free of your silence
Why don't you!
Make a change
And make someone's life better
Why don't you?
