Why Don't You See?

Your body lie motionless next to mine.
I envelope you in love and beg to give you life.
Trembling in my embrace, I sweep your hair from your face.
Your eyes see, but don’t see me.
You’re scared, I don’t know what to do.
I turn your head to me.
You are so beautiful.
Blood trickles from your nose.
Your face grows pale.
All sound and meaning escapes.
I might have screamed.
I might have thrashed.
I need you.
You are my life line.
You are my strength,
my reason,
my faith.
I saw your body go limp.
I pushed past them.
YOU’RE HURTING HER.
My soul longs for you.
It can’t be.
I press my lips against yours.
I breathe you in and hope to give you my strength.
If you took it all, I wouldn’t care. As long as you were here.
It can’t.
It can’t be.
She loved me.
She needs me.
She is not breathing, but she could at any time.
The world doesn’t seem real.
There is a harsh pain in my head.
I smash it against the wall.
It’s not real.
Nothings real without her.
It’s just a dream.
My flesh crawls, my heart is sad.
It all stops.
Death is the only enemy.
