Why Is This Happening to Me?

growing up as a kid
you always think the world is
rainbows and butterflies
nothing can hurt you
no bad can come upon you
your family is going to live together
for the rest of their lives
nothing's going to ever happen
until...
the one day that you wake up
and you find out your mom has cancer
she's not even 50
there's a problem with that
why didn't they catch it sooner
why didn't they do anything sooner
why is it this is happening to me?
I'm currently 18
I just got married
I'm supposed to live a happy life
they say she's got 6 months
well 6 months comes and goes
and you're still here
I get pregnant
you come with me to hear
the start of a heartbeat
but your heartbeat
ends 48 hours later

I'm not the same little girl
I'm not the person that I used to be
No matter how hard I try
I have to grow up
I have to realize that life
Isn't rainbows and butterflies anymore
It's heartache and hardships
Fighting for what you believe in
Fighting every single day to actually live
But...

Why Is This Happening to Me?
