Why I am a Feminist

Fri, 02/09/2018 - 19:30 -- ahoutz

Dear People Who Believe Feminism is Unnecessary,

She flirts,

She flatters,

She flaunts,

All to get what she wants.

It's not her fault though,

Society had made her like so.

And if she goes against the norm,

Then she's a prude, she's a bore.

What does she have to offer besides her body?

She's an object made for man, so she must not look shoddy.

Don't look too flashy though,

You wouldn't want a man to think your outfit means "go".

Even if you tell him no,

They say it's okay for him to not let go.

Because you shouldn't of been wearing such revealing clothes,

You were basically begging him to impose.

Well here's a novel idea,

Something I think we all should hear.

Stop enabling men to do what they please,

And defending their inexcusable activities.

Teach girls to use their intellectual abilities,

Rather than forcing them to show off their amenities.

Raise boys to treat us equally,

Rather than teaching us to run and hide accordingly.

We are told to never go out alone at night,

So I guess it's not expected that men are raised right.

We are told that abstinence is the key,

For women, at least.

After intimacy we are stuck with a feeling of shame,

While men brag and feel the bliss of fame.

They say that times have changed,

Then why are women still feeling the same?

Sincerely,

A Woman Who is Tired of Double Standards
