Why I am a Poet
A lot of people may ask me,
"Why do you write?"
And I'll say to them, I write
because writing is the only thing that helps me feel.
Oftentimes, I struggle to experience
real emotions. Traumatic events
fail to disstress me.
Even if I want to feel something,
I can't.
It's not in me, I don't have the ability.
Poetry allows me to express
everything I should be feeling
And everything I want to feel.
Emotions of lust, love, sadness, frsutration,
flow through me
and onto the page.
And then, after reading my own work
I begin to feel the things I struggled
to feel once before.
For me,
poetry is an outlet.
A release.
An escape.
