Why I can't go pro

 Haha you're kidding right?

I wish I never picked up a tennis racquet

It's affecting me emotionally because I care about it so much

I was a fat child who was mocked for it

This simple sport made a difference in my lifestyle

And I wish I can thank it for that

But I cant.

Freshmen year; I was mocked

I told them I played tennis prior and they laughed when I showed them

“Just keep hitting to his backhand all he can do is slice”

Mockery and Appraisal are at two ends of a spectrum for anything

People will laugh will at you if you're bad

People will praise you if you are great

But people never took me nor my words seriously

I said “I want to go pro”

My friends told me “you're kidding right?”

Well I’m used to not having enough support from anyone

Sophomore year rolls around and it gets worse

My record was 2-14 but I wished to get better

So asked for private lessons

All my parents said was “next year I promise”

I asked for an alternative but this was a mistake

Junior year; this sport was a portion of my life

I played for a local team but this was a joke

The coaches were those seniors who mocked me and I went only for the price

I was never their favorite, so I didn't expect many opportunities

And that's what happened, I couldn't improve my singles play

They made me play mixed doubles with people who didn't understand me at all

Loss after loss, disappointment after disappointment

I did not get better

It ended and I was relieved for it but I was still bad

The season ended

My record 4-12; I got better but still no one gave me a chance for lessons

Until some day this person gave me a card

But little I know, he didn't do it any more

After much hiatus I picked it up again

As the main captain of the team, Pressure was given

I want to go to states but I need practice everyday

I can't do that, I don't have that kind of money

These flustered emotions are controlling me because I spent so much time

And all the results are the same

I can't go pro nor can I play on a division 1 team

Always asking why I picked up this sport?

It's because I love it
