Why I Could Not Be Without You

I do not love you as the rose that won't bloom

I love you for that and more

I do not love you for the light alone

You sing a song

that only I can dance to

My loves infinite

Like the incandescent swirls in the night

Like everything that grows

Starting small then swollen

I love you with a lion’s might

To be with you is to be everything

Magic. Like life itself.

Your heart swinging from branches safe

Growing with every outward show of faith

I do not love you for the star that won't shine

I love you for all your attributes

You're so lovely so darling

All vibrant all alive

And so very mine
