Why I Don't Speak To You

You ask me why I don't speak to you.

Can't you see the truth?

Just one word from you can destroy me

There is nothing like your praise

The warmth that fills my chest, like the sun shining through

But all I feel is the bitter cold of your disappointment

It eats away at my flesh

It leaves marks on my soul

You ask me why I don't speak to you

The truth?

I am afraid

I am terrified

One word from you can annihilate me

& I don't know if there is anything left to put together
