Why I Enjoy Writing Poetry

I enjoy writing poetry as it is a way of being able to express myself in a different kind of way. It lets others "see" the world through my eyes. Poetry lets me freely say what is sometimes hard to say verbally. I can write a story through poetry. A poet can make any word come "alive." It can make the reader have much more in-depth feelings on a particular subject, for what they are reading about. I have always enjoyed poetry. English and Reading were my two favorite subjects from early on. I enjoy expressing meaningful words. Words that make the reader think , really think, about what I'm expressing through my poetry is what inspires me to write. I write to let my opinions be heard. I write to let my loved ones know how much they mean to me. I write to understand myself. I write to understand others. I write to help me figure out problems or hardships that I am going through. I find that through my writing, I often come up with solutions to my problems. I write because I miss my loved ones that I have lost. I write because I miss them so much my heart hurts. And, for a brief moment, my poetry writing will take me to a point where I become so in-touch with my feelings-that deeply involved-it is a sense of relief-a way to pour out my feelings, and making my inner-self feel better. I work hard to flare up the language of words. To make my words "come alive", and be meaningful, powerful and fulfilling. I write poetry because it is me-it is who I am, and it will always be a big part of my life.
