Why I Love You
You asked me why I love you and I sent you a song
That didn't answer your question, not really, not to you
So I told you that it wasn't a question I could answer all at once
And you were disappointed by that answer, but you didn't push it
I think that now I understand that I couldn't answer your question then because I didn't know
I still don't quite
But I know more now than I did then
I know that I love you because you care
And you remind me of that all the time
With all the things you do
Every time you text me or send me a video
Every time you call me, you're the only one who does
When you ask me about something I said- let me know you were listening
When you check in to ask me about a name or pronouns I mentioned once or twice
Every discovery you share with me
The times you can tell I'm lying and tell me as much- make me tell you the truth
When you remember what timezone I'm in when it's late
When you tell me that I help, even though we both know I do no such thing
Every little detail about me you remember
When you say you'll come to my show, even though it'll probably just be a waste of time
I can't tell you why I love you, not really
But I can try. Every text, every call, every little meaningless detail
I'll try
