Why I Slam

Tap Tap Tap Tap

Slam!

My pen flies across the page

ideas flood my head

and in minutes I'm drowned in words

Emotions and expressions

throw themselves onto the paper

spreading their wings and learning to fly

Sparks set the ink ablaze;

it's burning into the parchment

and slowly setting me free

The ink and paper let me breathe

allowing me to feel relief and joy

that I sometimes I cannot express with speech

They make me feel alive and not repressed

to be able express and have to speak

is why I write.
