Why I Write?
Sound is the unifying vehicle between us two-legged creatures.
Ears interpret the relentless waves of sound but must we have them to know our only earthly home?
And when sound becomes word it is captured, eternally forever, never to run away. We must only utter the scratches of ink on paper, lights on screens, and we are cast out into the liberty of speech.
The Sound depends on the word.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Writing takes sound under its wing,
Makes it stick and lets it ring.
Writing exposes our true form,
To be never forgotten and always adorned,
Adorned with each voice, each language, each mind,
And begs to release all humankind.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Personally, the real question is “why should I write?”
Why should any of us write? We MUST write because writing is final yet ethereal. It is our “one of a kind” yet undeniably interpretable. It can be hoarded or shared. It is the precision of a chiseled shell and yet as unpredictable as the night.
Even better is the ability to write does not exist, only the will to write. Whenever words are combined—even in the most barbaric of ways—they still can envelope us in almost any motive. The truth can be hidden or blatantly exposed or simply not there. Nonsense, syntax, and art can all be thrown into an accepted amalgam only through one medium: writing.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Scratch Scratch across the earth and cry out baby until you are heard with every thought in every mind I’ll try to reach your inalienable mind. With me by your side and pen in hand lets take on the gods like a superman and we’ll look so fly with sunglasses in hand and strike the sky with an unfathomable land into the dreams of all around to exist with every single sound to be captured yet lost in the unending quest to publish the breath of each mortal soul. Amen.
