Why I write

I opened my mouth Tried to give you an answer Tried to tell you why But you didn't hear me. I strained my voice Screamed at the top of my lungs And still my message Fell on deaf ears. But when my pen touches the surface Of a fresh page in my notebook (Smooth pages wrapped in a faux leather cover) Suddenly you all see me Suddenly you all hear me. Unlocking this communication secret Took me years But now that I have it I'll never forget. I like having this conversation With you With strangers in bookstores And anyone else who asks me.
