Why I write

I was introduced to poetry in middle school my seventh grade year. It was in my literature class taught by Mrs.Bell. First we started by reading poems by Edgar Allen Poe and some other famous poets. Then we she taught us how to write an haiku poem. After a few days of learning how to write an haiku we had an graded assignment to write our own haiku poem. At first i wasn't really interested in poetry so on the first poem id did i received a C. To get a better  grade i decided  to focus harder and i read examples of other poets haikus. As i started reading more poems ibegan to see the stories they could tell. I understood how poets were using their words to create imagery for the reader that gives great detail. Then my grades on my poems when for a C to a B+. Next we went on to romantic poetry, this is when i really began to love poetry. On romantic poems I received nothing below an A. We even wrote poems in the eighth grade and I began to look at poetry in a much larger range. Not only can poetry tell a story but also it can change the emotion of the reader. So i decided to write in my free time poems to cheer up people, and most are romantic poems written to girls. That  is why i write to cheer up people so they will have a better day, and for the enjoyment of it.
