Why I Write

Some people ask me why I write

I tell them why does a boxer fight

He fights because its his passion, he uses all his might

When I have a pen and paper it just feels right

My poetry love began with Dr. Seuss you know

It then progressed on with Dickinson and Poe

I began to write more and it was really great

Poetry was something I did not hate

My poetry helped me to love to write

So now I write all day and night

When the days are tough and the nights are long

I am not one to sing a song

I grab my paper and I grab a pen

And I write poetry again and again

Poetry takes me to a different place

One that fills me with God's grace

Forget the rap and forget the hip hop

Poetry is the original genre at the tip top

I love to write because it is my calling

If I did anything else I would be falling

I want to go to college and become a pro

Freelance or rhyme I want to put a show

I want to elevate higher than kite

But it's ok if it doesn't because I love to write!
