Why I write?

Words are dusty, slippery things

They dance around in my mind

In my mouth

On my page

Words flash in

Flash out

And twirling

And twisting

Scrawl my thoughts

On my page

Words are shimmery, crackly things

That play with my life

With my song

With my heart

And splatter paint

A shifting

Flowing

Fluid

Mirror

Of me

A world I know

And a thousand

Worlds

And words

I don’t

Yet
