Why I Write
I write to tell a story
To make a dream come true
I write to kill reality
To make my life seem brand new
So many people write
But I do so, to express myself
To release the feelings that rage inside
Emotions and feelings that are wrapped up, tied up, and entangled in a web of what we call our lives.
So full of hatred and lies!
With nothing but enemies who plot to steal, kill, and destroy!
I write to get away
Get away from the world and all the people who claim to rule it
My writing is opposite from the life I live
So in the world I’m a devil
But on paper I’m a saint
On earth I’m all bound
But here I have no restraints
Nothing’s held back with a pen in my hand
So I write
Writing keeps me from going insane
From losing myself
Feeding nonsense into my brain
Without putting down my thoughts they build up inside
Building and building no place to hide
Until one day…
You die
All those frustrations and problems are too much to handle
And just like that…
You’re gone
So I write
To keep myself alive
To have peace within myself
And Lord knows I pray to come closer to him
I pray that I feel joy each and every day for the rest of my life
So I write
I write when I’m hungry and tired
Sleepy and bored
Happy and excited
Lonely and ignored
Whether I’m at my best or I’m at my worst
I write… but…
Does it really matter to you why I write?
Or does it matter more for me to tell you why you should follow in my footsteps
Write
So that your children will write
And their children
So many generations will pass and before you know it
There will be a story to tell
So this way, the story of why I write never dies
The story of why I write becomes the story of why you write
So why do I write?
That question, is irrelevant
It doesn’t matter
As long as,
I write
Something wrong with this poem?
