Why I Write
Why I Write
I write because they tell me to.
They tell me to let the people know what they have done.
They tell me to preach their stories to those willing to listen.
They tell me to put their words down on a sheet of paper so they may live forever.
I write because they want me to.
They want me to announce their good deeds and awards.
They want me to let everyone know the honor they brought home.
They want me to write it all down so not one person will ever be in the dark.
I write because they need me to.
They need me to tell of their journeys and adventures.
They need me to pass on the legends from one ear to the next.
They need me to record their histories so they may not be forgotten.
I write because if I didn’t, their stories would fade.
Because if I didn’t, no one would know who had saved them.
Because if I didn’t, no one would learn the greatness they once were.
Because if I didn’t, no one would care to save the pages crumbling with old age.
Because if I didn’t, they would all die.
That’s why I write.
