Why I Write
Lets start with a little bit of history. I grew up in a very small, uniform, town-like city called Linden, AL. There are very limited opportunities to express anything there. I started out writing about how much I wanted things to be different and how I wished I could express myself more freely. Over time, I started to write about whatever I was experiencing at the time. Poetry made me dare to be different. It is a form of expression that no one could frown upon or take away. Poetry showed my real feelings and whom I really was and not who I was forced to be. In a sea of so many people that looked the same, I stood out. Poetry is my first love. It's become my life.
