Why I Write
To me writing poetry is my oasis
For writing I can give no substantial basis
Young I would always read with awe
At how with feelings so open and raw
A poet can write a moving, emotional piece
With an imagination that will never cease
Like other famous poets and their work
I always have thoughts in my head that always lurk
And to put it on paper seems only common sense
For only then does my relaxation commence
To me, poetry is like talking to a best friend
Someone who sticks with me to the very end
Someone who I can tell all my emotions
And will only listen with great devotion
Poetry is my oasis, my escape, my place
Poetry has a certain rhythm, a certain pace
That draws you in and envelops you
And you know nothing else will ever do
Poetry keeps my soul in sight
And that… is why I write.
