Why I Write
(poems g
Wake up again,
Knowing a new story will begin.
You think to yourself this can’t be happening again.
The darkness reveals night,
The scariest sight
Fumbles with the switch
Mumbles to yourself, “C'mon bitch”
Turns on the light
Too many thoughts stirring your head
Too many reasons why you can’t go back to bed
When will this feeling finally end
Another nightmare
A real terror
Keep telling yourself, “I don’t care”
Practically pulling out golden blonde hair
You look to the corner to catch a blank stare
Nobody can see it but a presence is there
You see a pencil, then a pen
Try to remember the beginning
But seem to forget the end
Stay up all night
Feeling nothing but fright
Writes down every feeling that isn't alright
Why I wrote
Sensing a tickle in my throat
I feel something you don’t
Sometimes, I can barely breathe and start to choke
Pull out a paper and scratch down a note
It gives me a feeling of hope
When I can’t sleep at night, I write
It helps me feel better
Even if I have to write a formal letter
I write when I’m scared
It helps the fear clear the air
It gets out a thought that is unable to talk
Before I wrote my life wasn’t easy
You have to believe me
I didn’t feel safe in my own home
I cried when I was alone
I would hear an uncertain tone
It didn’t sound like my own
The haunting
This is wasn't what I was wanting
The pain grew strong each and everyday
Enemies would never go away
Demons couldn’t be let out
They were the ones living in my house
Lurking around
Barely making a sound
I was the only one who could let them out
I couldn’t shout
No matter how loud
I turn around to face what I have become now
Look in the mirror
Tell me who’s here
All I see now, is my reflection looking back
Telling me, “Now you see what you lack”
Nobody could hear it without the crowd
Silence now
Nobody was ever around
My mind took control to waste my time
Showed me what I lacked and how I act
The stress had me pressed
Never to be digested
It drove my mind mad
Turned my personality bad
Lying on my bedroom floor
Crying not wanting to be hurt anymore
Thoughts haunting
Feelings Taunting
Actions jaunting
Trapped in the torturous game of life
Not knowing if I’ll make it through another endless night
Stuck with this feeling of pain
Not ever feeling the same
Thinking what a damn shame
I write a letter
Thinking I could make it all better
I start to write
Why I write
It calms me down
Nobody can judge me if nobody is around
I pick myself off the ground
Wipe my tears and look around
No sound
You ask why I write
It’s an unbelievable way to end a sleepless night
