Why I Write . . .

I write to keep from crying, To keep myself smiling. I write to get away From my every day pains. I write to keep my head up high Maybe to feel like I’m able to fly, Fly away from the place called home Where I feel most alone. But when I stand tall, With tears and pain and all, My pencil eases my mind, Gives me even more thinking time, Where I can express everything Allows my mind to sing, Makes me believe That maybe I, too, can achieve. Why I write? There are so many reasons: Comfort, Art, Expression. I could go for days But writing is my outlet. My muse is my life, And writing it’s self Keeps my faith alive.
