Why I write

I write because

I am quite unique

the chances of me being me

are astondingly marginal

no one else has my name

and my address

and my eye color

all at the same time

I write because

I feel

I feel many different ways

and they are so precious

even when painful

and maybe someone

would like to know the ways

and compare them with their own

I write because

I want to be heard

I have things to say

responses and thoughts

ideas and questions

my words are loud

even soundless on a strangers

keyboard

I write because

offensive and secret things

that shouldn't be heard

or maybe even thought

still drift in and out of my thoughts

and linger on my lips after an argument

I write because

I seek truth

my truth

or your truth

or our truth

or no one's truth

and

once I find it

I must share it.
