Why I Write

When life is glorious, resplendant, transcendent

Or when life is woeful, disconsolate, and black -

When life is amazing - when life is terrifying -

When I feel like I could reach up and touch heaven,

then hell explodes at the base of my neck -

When life is a kiss of death - or when life is

A loved ones final breath -

When life is a constant frustration - a constant

Jockeying for a position among 7 billion racers -

And when everything in me wants to give up and die -

I write because I can
