Why I write

According to the scriptures He promised me life

I write for my neighbors:

the lost and found, the needed and the unwanted, the living and the dead, the bottomless pits of Earth and the sky, the mentally crippled, the most achievers and the failures, the wealthy and the poor, the servants, the dreamers, the aspiring leaders

and most of all

I write for myself

I am free. I am young. I am tenacious.

I am my father's abandoned daughter. I am my mother's selfish daughter. I am my brother's and sister's wicked sister.

I am who I am. I pledge to be my own kind.
