Why I write.
Why I write?
I write for me,
And for those who cannot speak.
The children being slaughtered in Gaza,
The massacre being done onto my brothers and sisters in Syria,
And the women who are beaten every day.
I write because the tongue holds back,
But the heart doesn’t.
All the things that my tongue refused to form claws at my veins,
My blood ignites my passion,
Pours into my work.
I write because words on paper can be disputed.
Poetry cannot be wrong in anyway.
There is no judgment,
Black or white,
Male or female,
All thoughts and feelings are equal.
I write because poetry saved me.
