Why I Write

Pressure on me
taking toll,
ropes around me
begin to pull.
So many directions
so hard to choose,
one life to live-
so much to lose.
If I am wrong,
I hurt more than one,
If I am right,
new path begun.
Because no one will listen-
No one can understand,
because I am alone-
no one to hold my hand.
Because I cannot say
with words alone,
every pain, ache, sorrow
hope, dream, passion unsewn.
Because poetry may be
the only language I can speak-
where I can be fully heard
where emotions are not weak.
So people will understand-
so they may see my light.
So I can be loved-
this is why I write.
