Why I Write
To paint a picture
To tell a tale
To speak for those who cannot
This is why I write.
The earth:
Blanketed by the fresh cut grass
Held strong as the sun sank,
Leaving the sky glowing with hues no artist's palette could do justice.
Growing increasingly iridescent, the moon cast its eerie shadows upon the earth
Which could not wait to be greeted once again by the warmth of the sun.
The knight:
During this time rode to his impending doom.
Saving the princess,
His only goal,
Lingered ahead.
The night was creating continual gloom.
He will fight. He will win!
Overpowering hope strengthening him,
Bringing courage.
Fire lights up the sky in the distance
Surprise!
His assailant attacks in the darkness.
Swift movements.
Caught off guard but the knight will fight on.
He will save the Princess
He will reach his goal.
The Princess:
She knew.
She realized that once the knight saved her she would return to her old life.
The one she despised.
The playbook:
Telling her step by step how to live.
The rules:
Ensuring that she would not end up with the one that she loved.
But mostly, her loyalty.
Even though she knew her dreams she could never reach them.
This obedience which made her shut away her passion.
For those who want to see
I paint a picture.
For those who want to hear
I tell a tale.
For those who cannot find the strength
I speak.
This is why I write.
