Why I Write

Itching desire within,

Somewhere deep beneath the skin.

Echoing, "Express... Release me...

For you were meant to feel,

but not to keep me."

Let it out without a shout,

a gentle breath that will, no doubt-

Let poetry whisper through fingers.

Give flight to all the freedom singers,

give listeners the gift of eyes,

and an inner-voice to readers alike.
