Why I Write

I am an ocean

who outgrew her bottle,

allowing herself to flow

freely to the shore.

As the moon in

the distant night sky

pulled me onward with

it's forces of gravity

I was powerless to

keep myself from changing

and the shores I touched

morphed alongside.

Something about

the way my waves whispered

to the grains of sand

when I touched them

made all the words

forced from me by

tragedy

worthwhile.

This poem is about:
Me
