Why I Write
I guess it all started, this thing
With Elizabeth Barrett Browning
Oh, what a poet is she
"Oh, How do I love thee?
Let me count the ways"
Since then there have been so many days
I picked up a pen
And I became a craftsman
Telling my stories
From the fields to the valleys
Once I began I couldn't stop
Now here I am telling my story like Aesop
At first it was a vent
A way for me to make a comment
Now it just comes naturally
If I choose the wrong word it could be costly
I am who I am
Please and thank you ma'am
Poetry is a fundamental part of my life
It helps me get through all of this strife
It has helped make me who I am
If you don't know that then get with the program
I can put into it all of my might
And that is why I write
Something wrong with this poem?
