Why I Write Poetry

When the ocean of tension's tides are creeping closer

When words are being shot out from a gun, and the sound gets clearer and clearer

When the dam is breaking, and the water is rushing, and the birds are screaming

The knife draws nearer and nearer

I can't run from it

I can only soothe it

I can reach for my sacred book

With letters filled with emotions

That is where my mind can empty,

the waves can crash, the smoke can dissipate, the night can return.
