Why I Write Poetry

Location

Poetry is self expression. No guidlines, no rules.

Noone to tell you, "you're doing it wronge" or "you have to do this too."

Poetry doesn't have to rhyme, have 10 beats, or eight lines.

It's about what you feel and the thoughts you have inside.

I write poetry because it seems to be my only true outlet.

After writing a few lines, with tears down my cheek, my heart is on paper.

Through all the heartbreak, death, and depression.

The emotion, the thoughts, and the feelings become clear.

They become easier to manage and the "end" doesn't seem so near.

After my poem is done, I no longer feel shaken.

I feel empowered and ready to move a nation.
