"Why I Write" Poetry Sonnet
Poetry gives me the sense of living
Like the blood in my heart bustling through
The light that relieves me from darkening
The sanctuary that I always knew
I write, for it defines the real me
It personifies the stages in life
It accentuates certain catastrophes
That show boundless and fluctuating strife
I write to expose hardship in this land
To acknowledge the people that suffer
To show that we are strong and able to withstand
To unfold that poetry will relief pain and help it buffer
I write, for it is the light that guides through the road
It should be expressed because it is a gift that has been bestowed
