Why I write; Why I Breathe

You ask me why I write?

Tis like asking why I breathe.

Poetry, it reaches me, is what no living soul can be.

The words, they flow, and fit so nicely.

To say things I could not express so precisely

Before I began on my poetic journey.

Some I've heard say "it's a tangle of words,

Nonsensical, strange, and downright absurd!"

I laugh at their misunderstanding,

Why is it they don't see the magic?

I write to stay sane, I write for a laugh.

Most of all I write to help me look back.

At a past, not forgotten, but distant in mind,

til the words light up pictures, like windows in time.

To remember mistakes, the happy and sad,

To remember your choices, both good and bad.

Remembrance is crucial, to anyone living

And it is one thing that words always bring.
